Please join us for a special presentation by Bernhard Griesinger, Senior Water Resources Specialist at the Organization of American States, as he discusses the critical need in Latin America to close the loop in water management and sanitation.  The Latin America and Caribbean region is considered rich in water resources.  Yet 117 million inhabitants do not have access to safe drinking water, largely because their water resources are being polluted by untreated domestic sewage.  Mr. Griesinger will explain what the OAS USDE is doing to help address this major problem.

Previous to his current position at OAS, Mr. Griesinger served with the Ministry of the Environment of Brazil in several different capacities: as Technical Adviser to the Secretary for Water Resources, as Principal Assistant to the Deputy Minister of the Environment, and as coordinator of the project Strengthening National Environment Management, with support of the UNDP.  Mr. Griesinger has served also with Brazil's Ministry of External Relations as manager for cooperation with Latin American countries and as manager for Technical Cooperation with Germany.  In addition, he has held positions with the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (IBAMA), serving as Chief of staff to the President, and as Coordinator for International Cooperation.
